May 12, 2026 Description The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Clemson University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow position in Biophysics under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Sheng Liu. This position focuses on the development of a high-resolution single-particle tracking system based on MINFLUX microscopy to study protein dynamics and interactions in live cells. The successful candidate will play a central role in advanced instrumentation development and interdisciplinary biophysics research.Primary research responsibilities include:
Design, construction, and optimization of a MINFLUX microscope Development of instrument control software Data acquisition, processing, and quantitative analysis Preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals Additional responsibilities may include: Cell line generation and biological sample preparation Development of data analysis algorithms for single-molecule and super-resolution data Appointment Details Anticipated start date: September 1, 2026 (negotiable) Initial appointment: One yearRenewal:

PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field, awarded or expected by 2026Preferred Experience:
Optical system design and alignment Instrument control software development Electronic circuit design and FPGA programming Cell culture and biological sample preparationPreferred Programming and Software Skills:
