Role Summary:

The Engineering Technician will provide support to the shop supervisor and engineering. This role will interface directly with customers, learning about their project needs and offering timely, competitive, and professional quotes. The engineering technician will also assist with organization and operation of the shop, including material and tool inventory tracking. Following up (and staying organized) with design revisions, scheduling, and updates for customer projects is also a vital part of this role.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Gather, organize, and clarify information from customers (designs, sketches, pictures, specifications, etc.) to develop comprehensive and accurate scopes of work for customer projects. Determine material, equipment, and labor requirements for projects. Research material costs and other requirements to develop job estimates/quotes. Work with engineers to develop detailed designs and manufacturing plans. Assist supervisor with material and equipment ordering and inventory tracking. Assist supervisor with shop project and labor scheduling. Take field measurements and redline drawings. Write memos, technical reports, and specification revisions. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Prefer bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering field: Will consider Associate's degree in engineering technology or other related technological field of study: Will consider candidates with minimum of 2 years' experience in technical design environment. Working knowledge of arithmetic, decimals and fractions, algebra and geometry. Ability to both comprehend and produce technical reports, part specifications, manufacturing procedures, and professional office correspondence. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel. Ability to interpret design drawings and specifications and take measurements. Experience with CAD (SolidWorks / AutoCAD) preferred. High level of self-initiative, dependability, and customer service. High attention to detail.
