Job Title:
Project Engineer Job Description The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering cross-functional projects on time, within scope, and within budget. This role acts as the central point of coordination between engineering, sales, operations, supply chain, and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, risk management, and successful project outcomes. Responsibilities Lead end-to-end pump engineering projects including new product development, customer-specific configurations, and design improvements. Define project scope, technical requirements, timelines, and deliverables. Develop and maintain project schedules, risk registers, and action plans. Drive on-time execution while managing scope, cost, and technical trade-offs. Provide technical leadership on centrifugal and/or multistage pump designs. Review and guide hydraulic design, mechanical design, material selection, and thermal considerations. Support engineering analysis including CFD, FEA, performance curves, NPSH, efficiency, and reliability evaluations. Ensure compliance with applicable standards (UL, NSF, DOE etc). Serve as the primary interface between engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and sales. Coordinate prototype builds, testing, validation, and design reviews. Work closely with production teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth product launch. Translate customer and application requirements into engineering solutions. Support technical discussions with customers, EPCs, and end users when required. Address field issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to pump performance or reliability. Identify technical, schedule, and supply-chain risks and implement mitigation plans. Support cost optimization through design for manufacturability and standardization. Ensure design quality, documentation accuracy, and adherence to internal processes. Maintain project documentation including specifications, drawings, BOMs, and test reports. Provide clear project status updates to management and stakeholders. Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Skills Project management experience, particularly in leading cross-functional engineering projects. 5+ years of experience in pump design, application engineering, or pump development. Strong understanding of centrifugal pump hydraulics and mechanical design. Ability to read and create engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs. Hands-on experience with pump testing, validation, and troubleshooting. Familiarity with CFD, FEA, and industry standards (HI, ISO, API, UL/CSA, NSF). Experience working with global engineering or manufacturing teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field. Proven experience in project coordination and cross-department collaboration. Proficiency in design and engineering software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Work Environment The role is based in an office environment with the back end of the facility designated as the assembly area. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to work with a growing company with a high volume of work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rock Hill, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $43.26/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
