Position Purposes:

We are seeking an experienced

UL 891 / UL 1558

Structural Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the mechanical and structural design of low-voltage switchboards and switchgear for the North American market, ensuring compliance with UL standards, customer specifications, and manufacturing requirements. The successful candidate should possess strong knowledge of

UL 891, UL

1558, NEC, ANSI, and NEMA standards, along with excellent communication skills in both English and Chinese.

Main Job Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical structures for UL 891 switchboards and UL 1558 metal- enclosed switchgear.
  • Prepare complete mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Design enclosure layouts, busbar support systems, internal partitions, cable entry arrangements, ventilation systems, and arc-resistant structural features where applicable.
  • Coordinate with electrical engineers to optimize equipment layout and manufacturability.
  • Ensure all designs comply with UL requirements, customer specifications, NEC, ANSI, and NEMA standards.
  • Support UL certification projects, engineering reviews, and factory inspections.
  • Review customer specifications and provide technical solutions during quotation and project execution.
  • Resolve manufacturing, assembly, and field installation issues related to structural design.
  • Support prototype builds, design verification, and continuous product improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Project Management.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance when required.
Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of low-voltage switchboards or switchgear.
  • Proven experience with UL 891 and UL 1558 products.
