Job Summary
Description:

You will be the Mechanical Engineer Sr for the Simulation and Systems Labs (SSL) team which is responsible for designing and delivering advanced simulation hardware lab environments.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Mechanical Engineer Sr you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design effort that enables realistic flight‑simulation testing.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead mechanical 3D modeling and 2D drawing development for simulation hardware labs.
  • Coordinate procurement, vendor engagement, and fabrication liaison for lab infrastructure.
  • Oversee installation, checkout, and integration of HITL avionics and simulation equipment.
  • Provide Earned Value Management inputs and collaborate across hardware, systems, and operations teams.

You are a collaborative, detail‑oriented engineer with deep experience in aerospace or mechanical design. You thrive in complex, multi‑disciplinary environments, applying analytical rigor to stress, thermal, and systems challenges. Your proven ability to manage vendor relationships, drive hardware integration, and deliver on cost, schedule, and performance goals makes you a trusted partner for both technical and program teams.

- This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

This position is in Fort Worth, TX Discover Fort Worth.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering with knowledge of design, assembly, and checkout.
  • Experience in mechanical hardware electronics product/lab Computer Aided Engineering 3D modeling and 2D design/development utilizing CATIA V5 or SolidWorks tools.
  • Experience in mechanical hardware interpretation and development of Engineering Drawings, Parts Lists, and/or Bill of Materials.
  • Experience with product estimating, project management/scheduling, Earned Value Management System principles, and HW Design configuration management tools such as Product Data Manager (PDM) and/or
CADATANET.
Desired Skills:
  • MS Project, MS Visio, CM Tools such as PDM and/or CAD Datanet or equivalent, Parts Purchasing systems such as SAP NPRs, P-Card, EMAS or equivalent.
  • Mechanical packaging experience with Electrical, Fiber Optic, and Audio/Visiual equipment.
  • Stress and Thermodynamic Analysis
    Strong interpersonal and communication skills with various hardware equipment vendors/suppliers.
Security Clearance Statement:

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules:

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
