Innovation is at the core of everything we do, and we're looking for a talented Product Development Engineer to help create the next generation of products that drive our company forward. This is not an entry-level position. We're seeking a highly motivated individual who can take a product idea from concept through production while working closely with multiple departments to ensure successful product launches. Position Summary The Product Development Engineer (R D) is responsible for researching, designing, testing, documenting, and launching new products. This individual will work directly with Production, Fabrication, Purchasing, Sales, and Marketing teams to develop innovative products that meet customer needs while ensuring manufacturability, quality, and profitability. The ideal candidate is both an engineer and a hands-on problem solver who enjoys turning ideas into real-world products. What You'll Do Product Research & Development Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and product feasibility studies. Identify opportunities for new products and improvements to existing products. Develop products from initial concept through production release. Evaluate customer feedback and industry trends to guide product development. Engineering & Design Create and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings. Design products, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids. Develop prototypes utilizing 3D printing, machining, fabrication, and welding processes. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly structures, and engineering documentation. Develop laser cutting, engraving, and manufacturing programs as needed. Product Launch & Manufacturing Support Work with vendors and suppliers to develop prototypes and production-ready components. Create assembly instructions, installation guides, and technical documentation. Train Production, Fabrication, Sales, and Customer Service teams on new products. Support manufacturing by developing efficient production methods and processes. Collaborate with fabrication personnel to optimize laser-cutting and manufacturing programs. Project Leadership Lead product development projects from concept through launch. Coordinate project timelines and resources to ensure deadlines are met. Work with Purchasing to source materials and components while maximizing quality and cost efficiency. Collaborate with fabrication, machining, assembly, and wiring teams during product development. Troubleshoot product and manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions. Continuous Improvement Improve existing products through testing, customer feedback, and field data. Develop solutions to manufacturing and quality challenges. Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in product development, engineering, design, or research and development.
Advanced proficiency with:
SolidWorks AutoCAD CorelDRAW Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) Proven ability to develop products from concept through production. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including: Machining Welding Fabrication Assembly 3D Printing Ability to create detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation. Strong project management and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Automotive aftermarket, performance, racing, or motorsports experience. Experience with CNC machining, laser cutting, and manufacturing equipment. Experience designing wiring harnesses and electrical systems. Hands-on fabrication, machining, welding, or mechanical experience. Knowledge of manufacturing workflows and production processes.
