Job Description
Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a diligent and proactive individual with a proven high quality work ethic to fill the position of Principal Mechanical Engineer to support the replacement of the Transporter Erector (TE) for the Minuteman III Weapon System. The individual must hold a valid Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university and have at least 7 years of applicable experience or a Masters Degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering and have at least 5 years of experience. The overarching role of this position is to work closely with the customer, the United States Air Force (USAF), to apply engineering principles and best practices to optimize Weapon System operational service and performance with specific focus on the TE replacement. The candidate selected for this position will: Work with a multi-discipline systems engineering team, write specifications, prepare and review mechanical drawings, and manage work to meet program schedules. Apply engineering principles and analytical methods and techniques to: Identify or evaluate needed or proposed modifications and/or replacements for WS components; Prepare and be able to defend technical recommendations concerning any needed modifications and/or replacements. Be able to create and interpret Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. Possess familiarity in Finite Element modeling and simulation. Possess familiarly with a comprehensive design process including conceptual development, physical design, support to procurement, engineering test, failure root-cause, and integration and support of product qualification. Possess an understanding in the application of physical laws and principles of heat transfer, mechanics of solids and fluids, material science, kinematics, design of machinery, mechanical vibrations, and statistical based process improvement. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Consider safety in all aspects of work and engineering efforts. This position is located at Hill Air Force Base in beautiful Northern Utah. #ASFS. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program and 7 or more years of applicable experience. May also apply if the candidate has a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 or more years of experience. Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance. The criteria for obtaining a clearance is set by the US Government. A current clearance is not required to begin work. Candidate must be a US Citizen.
