Our leadership in steel fabrication and construction stems from our commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction. Our Innovation Team plays a crucial role in delivering next-generation solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and performance across our projects. We are seeking a forward-thinking and skilled Mechanical Designer to join our Innovation Team. This individual will contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems that improve constructability and drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate possesses a solid foundation in mechanical design, hands-on technical aptitude, and a passion for problem-solving through innovation. Key Responsibilities Develop equipment mechanical designs, concepts, and detailed drawings with a focus on innovation, constructability, and operational efficiency. Use SolidWorks to produce detailed 2D and 3D models; familiarity with Tekla, Inventor, AutoCAD, .ifc, and NC file exports is a plus. Collaborate with engineers, project managers, fabricators, and stakeholders to capture project requirements and deliver robust design solutions. Assist in feasibility studies, simulations, and validation testing to ensure performance, safety, and compliance with quality standards. Support opportunities for continuous improvement, cost reduction, and design standardization. Support prototype development and production efforts, including hands-on troubleshooting and technical resolution. Follow established design standards and contribute to maintaining consistency across projects. Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and cross-functional innovation initiatives. Maintain current knowledge of emerging technologies, design trends, manufacturing methods, and industry best practices. Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and internal quality policies (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO). Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in SolidWorks; additional experience with Tekla, Inventor, AutoCAD, .ifc, and NC files is advantageous. Working knowledge of GD&T, materials science, DFM/DFA principles, and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication). Experience designing mechanical systems with attention to efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and performance. Ability to contribute effectively to design initiatives and collaborate within a team environment. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Good communication skills with the ability to convey design concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. Familiarity with safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation in construction or industrial environments. Willingness to engage in hands-on prototype assembly, testing, and refinement. Ability to manage assigned tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines. Additional Information Physical Requirements:
