Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position will be located at Roy, UT to support the Sentinel (GBSD) program in the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division engineering Guidance Navigation Control (GN&C). Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. This position may be filled at a higher level based on qualifications below. Roles and Responsibilities- Responsible for the integration and test of hardware, software, and firmware test stations used for risk reduction and development of GN&C software.
- Involved in design, modeling, and release of test rack equipment and configurations.
- Design, research, and develop engineering products for production.
- Design engineering will be performed utilizing software packages such as NX or Teamcenter.
- Excellent communication and people skills required to work with key stakeholders within other engineering disciplines, including but not limited to system engineering and electrical engineering for capturing all engineering requirements needed for the design and to achieve program objectives in a timely manner.
- Critical thinking and personal organizational skills required to capture and complete a design that meets all engineering requirements. Basic Qualifications This position may be filled at an Associate Mechanical Engineer level or at a Mechanical Engineer level
- Requires a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 1 year of related experience (Mechanical Engineer level requires 2 years of related experience with a bachelor's; or 1 year with a master's)
- Must be a US Citizen with an active US Government Secret Security Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- Requires a minimum 1 year of professional experience performing in a mechanical engineering role Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Aerospace/Defense Industry experience
- Previous internship/co-op or other work experience, leadership & teamwork capabilities, interpersonal communication skills, and activities (professional/community/extracurricular)
- Experience with NX modeling software
- Experience in CPLM release process
- Work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop, verify, and validate a complex 6-degree of freedom missile flight simulator
- Integration of hardware, software, and firmware into test racks
- Test execution and automation for signal characterization
- Develop software tools for analyzing GN&C performance
- Conduct system performance assessments for performance against mission requirements
