Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer / Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer for the System Test Instrumentation team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will join a team researching, planning, designing, and developing the mechanical sub-systems for test data instrumentation systems. This will include development of engineering layouts and drawings, system architecture and creative strategies for difficult testing environments. System and component level analyses of complex systems Component engineering and testing Component and instrumentation system manufacturing and testing Research, analysis, system design and development of systems, hardware procurement, and technical oversight with suppliers ing research to the design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, and/or machines. Supporting testing and flight operations as well as authoring procedures and other engineering instructions for test, operations or customer use. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
This requisition may be filled at either the Principal Mechanical Engineer level (T03) or Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer level (T04).
Principal Mechanical Engineer:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related experience; 3 years of experience with a Master of Science degree; 1 year experience with a PhD Sr.
Principal Mechanical Engineer:
Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related experience; 6 years of experience with a Master of Science degree; 4 year experience with a PhD Requirements for both levels: Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need 1+ years Experience writing test plans and procedures 3+ years Experience using CAD design tools (i.e. NX, CATIA, etc.) Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong team collaboration skills These Qualifications Would be Nice to
Have:
Masters degree in Mechanical, Aerospace , or Systems Engineering Experience leading hardware procurement/supply chain operations Instrumentation experience using fiber optic cabling Direct experience with manufacturing and testing of instrumentation systems, specifically with accelerometers, acoustic microphones, pressure transducers, IMUs and data acquisition systems Experience with environmental sensor measurements using specialized test equipment Experience with Calibration of tooling and test equipment
Primary Level Salary Range:
$89,400.00 - $134,200.00
Secondary Level Salary Range:
$111,700.00 - $167,500.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
