Chesapeake, VA Job Details Full-time $57,500 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering Mechanical engineering Technical documentation Technical report writing Data management Research findings presentation Mechanical knowledge Full Job Description Primary Functions The Junior Mechanical Engineer supports Phoenix Group of Virginia's Navy customer by providing entry-level engineering and technical support for aircraft carrier hull, mechanical and electrical (HM&E), aviation, electronic, and distributive shipboard systems. The position supports non-nuclear CMP and BAWP development, modernization planning, technical data organization, RCM-related analysis, life-cycle strategy development, and maintenance metrics. The role assists senior engineers and government stakeholders by collecting, organizing, and analyzing system and component data for evaluation and action. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. No required professional engineering experience. Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, technical documentation, engineering analysis, and data organization. Ability to work under the direction of senior engineers, task leads, and government customers. Ability to collect, organize, review, and present technical information in a clear and traceable manner. Preferred Qualifications Three (3) or more years of professional engineering experience. Data analytics experience related to maintenance, modernization, reliability, or engineering support. Experience related to aircraft carriers, naval ships, large ship design, ship construction, ship maintenance, ship modernization, or shipboard systems. Familiarity with ship installation drawings, maintenance philosophy, RCM principles, ship operations, or Navy maintenance planning. General Experience Entry-level engineering position requiring a mechanical engineering degree and the ability to apply engineering principles to Navy ship maintenance, modernization, and life-cycle planning support under appropriate supervision. Specialized Experience Preferred experience includes support to aircraft carrier or naval ship systems, including HM&E, aviation, electronic, distributive, or related shipboard systems. Preferred experience includes technical data review, maintenance requirement analysis, configuration review, and development of engineering metrics. Functional Responsibility Provide technical support in the principles, techniques, and practices of mechanical engineering as they relate to aircraft carrier systems and components. Support engineering review of HM&E, aviation, electronic, and distributive shipboard systems. Assist with development, management, and refinement of the non-nuclear CMP, BAWPs, and modernization planning products for execution during CVN availabilities. Review assigned CMP maintenance requirements to help ensure technical requirements, periodicities, and associated configuration data remain current. Collect, manage, and analyze maintenance, risk, material condition, and system or component data based on specific criteria. Organize technical data in a cohesive manner and submit findings for senior review, evaluation, and action. Assist in development of life-cycle strategies for aircraft carrier distributive systems and selected components. Support reliability-centered maintenance analysis, technical documentation review, ship installation drawing review, and maintenance planning activities. Develop, maintain, and report engineering, maintenance, modernization, and planning metrics as required. Coordinate with senior engineers, data analysts, maintenance planners, and government stakeholders to support assigned tasks.
