The successful candidate will work in a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory, conducting experiments and analyzing data related to fiber technology. This is a hands-on position that requires an individual with excellent attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Pay:
$65•$75 Annual Salary •based on experience
Hours/Schedule:
Monday•Friday 7:00am•4pm. (Potential OT if necessary)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Work in a cross functional team to develop new applications for existing materials Support efforts to develop new materials Compile raw trial data and generate reports suitable for presentation to project engineers, management, and outside customers Analyzes and improves existing processes using sound data driven practices. Utilizes knowledge of textile products, materials, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards to drive change. Enhances current manufacturing methods using existing or new equipment to ensure repeatability and conformance to customer specifications. Utilizes technology tools to create and update drawing and models supporting computer controlled cutting equipment and 3D Printing. Evaluates equipment and processes for repeatability and makes improvements as necessary. Develops processes for manufacturing products using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Statistics-based methods and principles for process excellence. Monitors and audits the performance of processes and equipment and makes recommendations for continuous improvement necessary to maximize process capability. Works with vendors and internal resources to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase and installation of equipment, materials or parts for new products. Investigates, recommends and justifies new technologies, manufacturing methods and equipment to meet competitive business needs and improve efficiencies. Interacts with Product Development to ensure manufacturability or minimize the risks associated with new products transferred for Commercialization. Creates and revises documents such as Preventative Maintenance, Work Instructions and Internal Specifications for current manufacturing standards. Fosters a high level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new or improved manufacturing processes, systems, prototypes and projects.
Job Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field (e.g. polymer, materials science, chemical, textile engineering) or equivalent experience. Strong technical skills and experience in laboratory research and development, preferably related to fiber technology. Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret data. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Lift up to 50 pounds Climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively and unassisted Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Operate moving equipment Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped/dusty/noisy environments Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and Criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
