Job Description
Overview We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Maintenance team located in Roanoke VA. This salary exempt position reports to the Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities Maintenance & Reliability Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical equipment (pumps, compressors, conveyors, gearboxes, rotary equipment, hydraulics/pneumatics). Diagnose mechanical failures and execute corrective actions to minimize downtime. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring equipment issues and implement solutions. Monitor and optimize equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency. Equipment & Asset Management Develop and update maintenance procedures, SOPs, and equipment maintenance history in CMMS. Ensure critical spares availability and support inventory optimization. Assist in planning shutdowns/turnarounds and coordinate mechanical activities. Project & Improvement Work Support installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical systems. Contribute to continuous improvement, cost reduction, and energy efficiency projects. Review technical drawings, P&IDs, manuals, and ensure compliance with mechanical standards. Safety & Compliance Adhere to all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Lead or participate in safety inspections, risk assessments, and permit-to-work system. Ensure contractors and maintenance teams fulfill company safety and quality expectations. Cross-functional Collaboration Work closely with production, electrical, instrumentation, and reliability teams. Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and support training when needed. Other duties as directed by the Maintenance Manager.
