Job Description

Job Description Day to
Day:
This role supports additive manufacturing by designing and validating tooling that enables consistent, production‑ready builds in a fast‑paced factory environment. The engineer will work hands‑on with additive technicians, manufacturing, and quality teams to design fixtures, build plates, and post‑processing tooling using CAD and GD&T best practices. Success in this role requires regular time on the shop floor, troubleshooting real‑time tooling challenges and driving continuous improvement. This position is based onsite in Auburn and plays a key role in scaling additive manufacturing from development into repeatable production.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop additive manufacturing tooling, including build plates, fixtures, alignment tools, and post‑processing supports using CAD and GD&T best practices.
  • Provide hands‑on shop floor support, troubleshooting tooling and fixture issues during active builds and post‑processing to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with additive technicians, manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams to ensure tooling enables repeatable, production‑ready builds.
  • Validate tooling fit, function, and durability, making iterative improvements to support thermal effects, distortion, and production use.
Support the transition of additive manufacturing from development to production, contributing to tooling standardization, documentation, and continuous improvement efforts.
