Engineer Key areas of responsibility for the Engineer will be manufacturing support, with a strong emphasis on marine electrical and mechanical systems and outboard engine rigging. Core functions for this position will exist within manufacturing support, documentation control, and product design as it relates to systems development. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Examples of Responsibilities:
Support the goals and objectives of Hewes Marine Company, while bridging the needs of our operations, engineering, and sales functions Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, sales, dealers, and customers to design, develop, and maintain a wide variety of electrical and mechanical systems throughout all marine product lines Create and maintain generic engineering documentation, including drawings, assemblies, specifications, BOM's, etc. Support all change management activities Support plant engineering functions where necessary to support the manufacturer of products and to support efficient and safe functions within the facility Occasional travel required to support company goals (i.e boat shows, dealership support, customer support, research) Occasional on-the-water boat testing to validate engine rigging and performance, evaluate hull performance, ride quality, center of gravity, trim angles, and overall handling
Education/Experience:
4-year bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience desired Experience with SolidWorks preferred, but other 3D design platforms will be considered Experience with 2D CAD software also desired Ability to create electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and layout drawings using CAD Experience with electrical system design, updates, and documentation Experience with mechanical system design, updates, and documentation Ability to perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis, particularly on electrical systems, circuits, and components, but also on mechanical systems Must possess strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with additional consideration given for individuals from the marine industry Excellent communication skills are critical, with the ability to communicate both within engineering, other internal departments, and occasionally directly with dealers and customers Desired experience with product documentation, including part and assembly drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and process instructions Self-motivated, creative thinker, deadline-oriented, and willing to work overtime as needed to meet team and company objectives
Compensation:
This is a full-time position within Hewes Marine Company Work schedule: Monday - Friday Some overtime and weekend work are required. Expected Salary Range of $5,200.00 - $7,200.00 monthly Excellent Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, critical illness and accident insurance, accrued paid leave, 401 K program with matching, and paid holidays.
