Test Engineer II

JOB

DESCRIPTION

The Test Engineer II is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing validation activities, with Technicians as required, on construction equipment and related systems throughout the product development lifecycle. This role leads the development of test plans, Design Verification Plan & Reports (DVP&R), prototype build activities, and performance validation efforts while collaborating with Cross Functional Teams (CFT).

The Test Engineer II works independently on moderately complex projects and serves as a technical resource for machine-level validation, ensuring products meet performance, durability, reliability, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Test Engineers also develop test procedures; design, construct and install test fixtures and instrumentation; collect and manage test data, write test reports and maintain test report files related to new product development and competitive machine analysis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Concept and Prototype Machine Builds:

1. For concept and prototype machine assembly that occurs in the Test and Validation department:

Gather parts and assemblies from production, engineering, or prototype build stock and stage

Maintain build schedules and Coordinate resources from Product Design, Manufacturing, and Test & Validation that will participate in the build

2. For concept and prototype machine assembly that occurs in manufacturing:

Assist as required

Machine Test and Validation

Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for new product development and product improvements

Create and maintain DVP&R documentation aligned with product requirements and engineering

Develop new test procedures as required for repetitive tests

Design and develop test fixtures, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation for in-house testing

Make recommendations for instrumentation, data management system, test equipment, and related capital expenses to meet business needs

Set up mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical testing devices and apparatus in accordance with engineering specifications

Observe and detect failures during testing

Analyze test results and provide conclusions, recommendations, and corrective actions.

Generate clear technical reports documenting test methods, results, failures, and validation status

Benchmarking of competitive machines

Set-up and conduct machine field endurance testing during product development as well as long-term post-development testing

Ownership and accountability for use and update of prototype machines

Miscellaneous Assist manager to achieve department goals.

Test and data analysis:

o Identify design improvement opportunities.

o Determine the probable cause of malfunctions or failures.

o Make constructive recommendations as to product performance, malfunctions, failures or breakdowns.

REQUIRED SKILLS

1.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) preferred

2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

3. Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

4. Travel required-up to 5% (Domestic and Global)

5. Passport required

6.

Experience:

3+ years in testing position

7. Valid drivers license

8. Preferred skills

Product testing knowledge and with hands-on experience

Data acquisition equipment with emphasis on temperature, pressure, flow, stress/strain, and vibration and noise measurements

Selection and installation of test instrumentation

Basic gas and diesel engine knowledge

Basic hydraulics

Basic electrical wiring

Ability to interpret and verbalize results of the data being acquired
