Job Overview We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Mechanical Project Engineer to lead innovative engineering projects within our manufacturing environment. This role offers the opportunity to drive complex mechanical system designs, oversee project execution from conception to completion, and collaborate across teams to ensure technical excellence. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for mechanical engineering, strong project management skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Responsibilities Makes cost analysis of projects, writes specifications, estimates labor and material requirements to install and complete projects. Recommends best and most economical products to be used in design. Manages engineering projects assigned, including design, specifications, approvals, equipment and material purchases, installation and startup. Gives specific instructions to technicians and maintenance personnel during the project. Conducts engineering studies to determine the feasibility of projects or process modifications. The studies also include energy conservation, environmental controls and regulatory matters. Works with Maintenance Department and Production Departments on repairs and redesign of machinery and processes. Provides technical support to Production regarding equipment and facilities. Makes engineering sketches which can be used as working drawings. Communicates with draftsmen to make finished prints. Acquires and maintains working knowledge of Company equipment and processing procedures to provide insight and expertise for possible improvements. Conceives and submits ideas to Manager of Plant Engineering for improvements to quality, safety, productivity, and profitability. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced certifications are a plus. Proven experience with project scheduling, and mechanical design principles. 5+ years of on-the-job experience is preferred. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering concepts including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), schematics, and system design. Familiarity with manufacturing processes Experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), or similar automation software is highly desirable. Knowledge of ASME codes & standards relevant to pressure vessels and mechanical systems. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently.
