Job Description

Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for quality inspection and assurance across various commodities, including precision machined parts, stamping, cast machined, and electromechanical components. The role involves overseeing inspections at multiple stages such as raw material, machining, heat treatment, coating, and final inspection. The engineer will collaborate with various departments, including QA and product engineering, to ensure adherence to specifications and resolve any quality issues while maintaining high standards of compliance.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Inspection & Quality Control:
Perform part material and dimensional inspections using tools like CMM, welding inspection, coating inspection, and non-destructive testing (NDT). Inspect commodities at various stages of production (raw material, machining, heat treatment, coating, final inspection). Prepare and execute inspection plans for parts and assemblies. Ensure inspection accuracy and integrity through segregation and disposition of inspected materials based on status.
Supplier & Process Management:
Conduct inspections at the supplier location when necessary, ensuring compliance with standards. Review supplier inspection reports and identify deviations. Coordinate with internal teams (business units, QA, product engineering) to verify component specifications. Support the tear-down of assemblies for inspection purposes.
Root Cause & Continuous Improvement:
Identify and investigate failures in internal production lines, performing root cause analysis. Lead or support CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) processes to resolve quality issues. Utilize problem-solving methods such as 8D and Six Sigma DMAIC for continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare and share inspection reports with customer quality managers, ensuring timely communication of quality status.
Quality Planning & Compliance:
Apply measurement systems analysis (MSA), capability/SPC, FMEAs, and control plans in the quality planning and execution process. Ensure compliance with inspection standards and handle deviations according to the approval process.
Education & Experience:
Education:
A degree in Mechanical Engineering , Production Engineering , or Electrical Engineering is required.
Experience:
4-10 years of experience in inspection roles , preferably within the medical industry or high-tech industry . Hands-on experience with CMM inspections , welding , coating inspections , and heat treatment processes . Solid understanding of material, process, and painting standards . Experience with supplier audits and a good understanding of GD&T and manufacturing drawings . Proven track record in root cause analysis of internal production line failures and quality management. Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint for report preparation and presentations.
