Senior Mechanical Designer Southern Synergy, Inc. Decatur, Alabama 35601
Overview Education:
Associate degree in Computer-Aided Drafting is preferred.
Experience:
This position requires 5-10 years of relevant industrial experience. Generally responsible for performing all aspects for a complete design of complex mechanical/design assignments. This work will be performed in the Decatur, AL Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Perform required field work to layout equipment, determine optimum pipe routing and identify any interferences or issues which may affect project goals Prepares moderately difficult engineering and construction drawings (comprised of general arrangements, layouts, assemblies, piping isometrics, orthographic drawings, elevation and section views, etc.) using field sketches, general engineering and design information, or 3D laser scans while utilizing computer-assisted drafting/design techniques. Familiarity with and utilizing discipline design and drafting standards. Performs related engineering support tasks, which are not completely standardized or prescribed. References information from vendor prints, catalogs, technical manuals, etc., and interfaces with engineers as required. Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly. Knowledge of project budgeting and operating within budget and schedule constraints Qualifications Knowledge of AutoCAD, CADWorx, Plant3D, 3D design and modeling. Knowledge of piping design, isometrics, orthographic drawings and P&ID's. Knowledge of 3D scanning, field verification. Knowledge and application of piping materials. Knowledge and application of piping supports and restraints. Knowledge of manual valve sizing, use and application.
