Mechanical Detailer/Drafter RimePro Inc San Jose, CA Job Details Full-time $85,000 - $120,000 a year 1 hour ago Qualifications Construction specifications 3D modeling software Revit 3D modeling Building information modeling (BIM) tools 3D modeling for architectural design Full Job Description Position Overview The Mechanical Detailer / Drafter is responsible for developing detailed 3D models, fabrication drawings, installation layouts, and coordinated construction documents for commercial mechanical systems. This role works closely with Project Managers, Engineers, BIM/VDC teams, fabrication shops, and field personnel to ensure HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems are accurately modeled and coordinated before installation. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Revit, mechanical detailing, BIM coordination, and construction drawings within a commercial mechanical contracting environment. This position plays a critical role in supporting prefabrication, clash detection, constructability reviews, and successful project execution. Revit experience is required. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed 3D Revit models for HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Produce installation drawings, spool drawings, fabrication packages, and coordinated construction documents. Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection trades. Participate in BIM coordination meetings and assist with clash detection and model resolution. Create detailed layouts for ductwork, piping systems, mechanical equipment, and support systems. Review construction documents and specifications to ensure accurate modeling and detailing. Coordinate with field personnel, project management teams, and fabrication shops to support project execution. Assist with constructability reviews and identify potential installation conflicts before construction begins. Maintain drawing revisions and ensure project documentation remains current throughout project lifecycles. Support prefabrication efforts by developing fabrication-ready models and shop drawings. Collaborate with project teams to improve efficiency, reduce field rework, and optimize installation sequencing. Ensure all models and drawings comply with project standards, specifications, and quality requirements. Qualifications 3-7+ years of experience as a Mechanical Drafter, BIM Detailer, VDC Coordinator, Mechanical Designer, or similar role. Advanced proficiency with Revit required. Experience detailing commercial HVAC, mechanical piping, plumbing, or process piping systems. Strong understanding of BIM coordination and clash detection processes. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Experience creating fabrication drawings, spool sheets, and installation layouts. Strong understanding of commercial construction practices and mechanical system installation. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or similar BIM/VDC software. Experience supporting healthcare, life sciences, mission critical, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, or high-rise construction projects. Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, HVAC piping, plumbing systems, and prefabrication processes. Associate's degree, technical certification, or related drafting/design education preferred. Experience supporting design-build and prefabrication-driven construction projects.
