ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Candidate performs drafting work using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques, prepares drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, mechanical and electrical equipment, pipelines, duct systems, and similar equipment, systems, and assemblies. Drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, design, and information. This operator uses recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. Work requires use of most of the conventional drafting and CAD techniques and a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of the occupation.
GENERAL DUTIES
Candidate prepares complete sets of complex drawings or computer models that include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings or models include complex design features that require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray. Works from sketches, computer models, and verbal information supplied by an engineer, architect, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments. Selects required information from computer programs, internet sites, precedents, manufacturers' catalogs, and technical guides. Supervisor or design originator may suggest methods of approach or provide advice on unusually difficult problems. Prepares complete sets of drawings of test equipment to be manufactured from layouts, models, or sketches. Several cross-sectional and subassembly drawings are required. From information supplied by the design originator and from technical handbooks and manuals, this operator describes dimensions, tolerances, fits. Prepares drawings and determines arrangement of printed circuit boards from electronic schematics, information as to maximum size, and manuals giving dimensions of standard parts.
OTHER DUTIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Must be a graduate of an accredited technical school or College with an AS Degree or Certificate with at least five years drafting experience. Should possess practical drafting knowledge in one or more specialty skills areas: electronic, mechanical and electromechanical devices; architectural; structural; civil; piping; mechanical high design; and illustrative drafting skills. Must have Computer-Aided Design (CAD) knowledge and apply CAD skills to the drafting environment. Must also possess a basic understanding of machine shop practices. This operator prepares complete sets of complex drawings or computer models that include multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings. Drawings or models include complex design features that require considerable drafting skill to visualize and portray.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Candidate must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies. Supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is normally accomplished indoors but occasionally work assignments may require outside activity under extreme environmental conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal. May be required to lift, pull, or carry items of no more than 20lbs.
