Job Description

Job title: Piping Designer (CADWorx)

Per Diem Available Job Description:
Join a collaborative engineering team where your designs directly impact real-world industrial projects. As a Piping Designer , you'll be responsible for developing precise piping layouts and models using AutoCAD and CADWorx , supporting projects from concept through construction. This role offers a mix of office-based design work and hands-on field exposure , giving you the opportunity to validate your work on-site and collaborate closely with engineers, drafters, and project teams. We're looking for someone who is detail-driven, self-sufficient, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and quality. Key Responsibilities Design and draft 2D and 3D piping systems , including layouts, isometrics, and construction drawings Interpret P&IDs to develop accurate, constructible models Create and maintain bill of materials (BOMs), line lists, and tie-in lists Perform field walk-downs , take measurements, and develop field sketches Build equipment and piping models based on vendor drawings and specifications Utilize point cloud/laser scan data to generate highly accurate models Coordinate with structural and stress engineers to ensure design integrity and compliance Review and incorporate piping stress analysis results into designs Participate in design reviews, P&ID reviews, and project meetings Mentor junior designers and review work for accuracy and quality Track progress against project schedules and man-hour estimates Ensure designs meet safety, constructability, operability, and maintainability standards
Qualifications Required:
Associate or Technical degree ( Bachelor's preferred ) Proven experience in piping design within an industrial environment Strong 3D modeling experience Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D and 3D) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and P&IDs Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred:
Experience with CADWorx Plant Professional Familiarity with ReCap and point cloud modeling Knowledge of AISC and ASTM standards Understanding of construction, fabrication, and installation practices Experience working in both field and office settings . Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Colwich, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
