July 2021 Production engineers interpret customer supplied drawings and specifications to develop assembly processes, create manufacturing instructions, and draw form boards using computer programs and CAD software. Documents created by production engineers are used by operator teams to build cables and harnesses. Skills utilized / Duties may require:
Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
Confer with production Team Leaders and other personnel to implement assembly procedures and provide technical information
Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and materials to evaluate the feasibility and cost of designs
Specify components or modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications
Research and evaluate tools and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles
Operate computers using MS Office, MRP and CAD programs to create assembly process documents
Responsible For:
Fabrication oversight, coordination and support for production teams
Purchase requisitions for new and replacement parts and tools
Tooling and mold development while working with 3D modeling engineers
Assembly process management and documentation
Form Board design and creation (CAD drawings)
Interpretations of customer assembly drawings and Bill of Materials (BOM)
Cable and harness work: design & produce CAD drawings and documents
Cable diagrams and schematics (design, CAD drawings, implementation)
Receipt and administration of Technical Data Packages.
Electrical and mechanical assembly process development
