Scope of Responsibility:
Responsible for reviewing and verifying quality and customer standards are met and maintained on all design drawings from intermediate to more complex designs. Responsible for identifying and participating in processes improvements that impact key operational metrics related to quality and productivity and advise and educate drafting personnel on corrective actions.Essential Duties:
Drawing Quality Assurance:
85% Responsible to ensure the quality of fabrication and construction drawings prepared by drafting department prior to release for customer approval and/or production. Uses and understands Sabre Tubular Structures (STS) Drafting Standards, STS Engineering information, manufacturing parameters and customer's technical specifications to ensure quality standards. Perform a Quality Check of drawings independently with minimal oversight to verify completeness and accuracy and identify any missing or incorrect information and provide markups and feedback to drafting to update drawings. Lead, train, and/or advise drafting team to improve the team's knowledge in drafting and Sabre standards as applicable drafting process. Drive and support production drawing requests to ensure rapid responses and minimize shop delays while ensuring accurate drawing revisions are provided. Maintain inspection records to monitor, report, and identify opportunities for improvement on drafting quality performance Act as liaison between Drafting and downstream processes to manage customer markups and/or shop requests for drawing clarifications or revisions, customer approval, and/or field issues as necessary.Quality Improvement:
15% Take initiative in the Root Cause Analysis process with the drafting team to evaluate errors and identify corrective and/or preventative actions. Periodic reviews and updates of internal documentation of customer specifications and expectations to ensure standard and cohesive drawings. Participate in the implementation of new methods and corrective actions as necessary. Additional duties as assignedPosition Requirements:
Associate Degree in Drafting or Associate Degree in related science major and typically have 8 to 12 years of drafting and/or checking experience. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, preferred experience in AutoCAD 2016 or Inventor 2019. Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures. Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team environment. Excellent organizational and planning skills required for a fast-paced environment. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines. Ability to work overtime when as required. 5-8 years of CAD Checking experience, preferably in steel and/or tubular structures. Experience with 3D CAD practices and methodsPhysical Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed. Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials. Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual. Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
