This role focuses on developing layout drawings, detailed design prints, and supporting documentation to ensure accurate build and assembly. The position works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to support manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities while building foundational engineering experience in automation systems. Job Functions & Responsibilities Design & Documentation Develop layout drawings and detailed mechanical design drawings for automation equipment and systems under the guidance of senior engineers. Assist in creating and updating engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation. Revise and maintain drawings based on engineering feedback and manufacturing input. Support review of prints and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and build readiness.
Manufacturing / Assembly
Support Support fabrication and assembly teams by providing updated drawings and clarifications. Assist in resolving drawing-related questions during manufacturing and assembly processes.
Installation / Integration
Support Support installation activities at customer sites by providing drawing clarification and documentation updates. Assist senior engineers during commissioning and troubleshooting activities as needed. Quality Assurance Support testing and run-off activities by documenting observations and assisting with issue tracking. Help prepare installation and assembly documentation (e.g., fastener lists, routing diagrams, air line layouts). Collaboration & Support Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams to ensure design consistency. Participate in design reviews and learn from senior engineering staff. Support continuous improvement initiatives and process documentation updates. General Duties Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Follow all safety, quality, and company standards. Participate in training and skill development opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned. Education, Experience & Technical Skills Requirements 0-3 years of experience in mechanical design, drafting, or engineering support (internship or co-op experience acceptable). Exposure to automation, manufacturing, or industrial equipment design preferred. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and technical drawings. Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar). Understanding of basic mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn. Good organizational and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment. Willingness to support shop floor activities and occasional travel for installations or customer sites.
