Job Description

Overview Join our innovative engineering team as a Mechanical Engineer/CAD Designer, where you will play a vital role in designing, analyzing, and optimizing mechanical systems and components. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that blend mechanical engineering principles with advanced CAD tools, ensuring the development of reliable, efficient, and high-performance solutions. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to bring concepts from initial sketches to detailed manufacturing-ready designs, all while adhering to industry standards and best practices. Responsibilities Develop detailed mechanical designs and schematics using CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability. Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to validate mechanical integrity and performance under various conditions. Create comprehensive technical documentation, including drafting, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and system schematics aligned with ASME codes & standards. Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical failures or inefficiencies, proposing effective corrective actions. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for CNC machining, 3D printing, or other fabrication methods. Integrate programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Arduino platforms, and LabVIEW systems into mechanical systems for automation and control purposes. Support system design efforts involving MATLAB, Simulink, and other simulation tools to model dynamic behaviors and system interactions. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus. Proven experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks and Creo for mechanical design and drafting. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, GD&T standards, and ASME codes & standards. Familiarity with manufacturing processes including CNC machining, 3D printing, and assembly techniques. Experience with FEA software for structural analysis; knowledge of system design using MATLAB/Simulink is advantageous. Ability to perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of mechanical issues effectively. Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), LabVIEW, Arduino platforms, and schematic creation for automation projects. Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or work experience equivalent. Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes. Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and GD&T. Experience creating detailed manufacturing drawings and assembly documentation. Knowledge of machining, fabrication, and precision measurement equipment is preferred. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing precision instruments, tooling, fixtures, or custom gages. Familiarity with optical systems, optical comparators, or metrology equipment. Understanding CNC machining and manufacturing methods. Experience working in a manufacturing environment. $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
