Job Description
Summary
Duties include mechanical machinery design, including new machines and modifications of existing designs, using 3D design software such as Inventor, as well as Vault software. Design, detailing and checking is required. Part and BOM creation within the ERP system is required. Drawing packages are released to the Job Coordinator. Designers are expected to collaborate with production supervisors for optimum design, in consideration of cost of manufacturing, and ease of build. They are expected to follow the designs through production, correcting non-conformances. Essential Functions Collaborate with Sales to ensure understanding of requirements and specifications. Use of Fundamental Principles of Engineering and Engineering Methods. Prepare calculations prior to drawing. Collaborate with Electrical Engineering on motor load requirements, as well as other electrical devices to be incorporated into machine design. Collaborate with Production supervisors and Divisional Lead Design, on best possible designs for ease of manufacturing and to minimize costs, while maintaining design integrity to meet requirements. CAD design including 3D concept designs and detailing, existing machine design modifications, and possibly 2D cad designs. Assembly Drawing creation, including ballooning. Follow Engineering and company procedures and standards. Collaborate with and obtain quotes from Suppliers on part selection for best lead time and cost factors and ensure technical suitability. Part and BOM creation within ERP system. Drawing updates and corrections(Non-conformance) Competencies Complete understanding of Engineering Fundamentals. Inventor or Solidworks experience of minimum 1 year Strong math and computer skills Excellent problem-solving skills Self-motivated individual with ability to use initiative. Mutli-tasking ability Must have a degree in BS in Mechanical Engineering , or Associates Degree in Mechanical Design Supervisory Responsibility None Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am. to 5 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel
Travel is typically not required. Occasional travel to Customer facility may be necessary. Other Duties
