What they do
A Mechanical or Electrical Drafter prepares detailed drawings needed to manufacture or repair machinery and equipment, with dimensions and other specific engineering data. Uses computer aided design software. May create diagrams for products that include mechanical and electronic components, such as cars or computers, or prepare the diagrams used to install wiring and electrical equipment in buildings or in electrical distribution systems.

Job Description
- Utilize 3D software to prepare plans, drawings, and schematics of 3D mechanical designs
- Create complex technical drawings of equipment/component designs for fabrication and installation
- Regularly collaborate with fabricators and vendors to ensure tolerances and requirements meet project specifications
- Generate and modify bill of materials
- Routine collaboration with the mechanical engineer to aid in the completion of projects, as well as submit technical drawings for revision and approval
- Collaborate with other disciplines and internal departments (project management, procurement, field operations) and external team members (vendors, clients, and contractors), and develop relationships that foster open communication
- Problem solve and troubleshoot challenges as they arise
- Manage multiple projects at any given time and adequately prioritize project tasks/deadlines

Minimum:
High School Diploma, plus Certificate of Proficiency in Computer Drafting/DesignPreferred:
2-year Associate's Degree in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Drafting or Engineering TechnologyPreferred:
2-3 years of minimum work experience of technical/mechanical drafting in related field with structural steel, piping, pipe routing, etc.- Any equivalent combination of above that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Autodesk software or other design platforms
- Familiar with GD&T
- Experience interpreting/takeoff of blueprints, technical drawings, scope descriptions and related documents
- Familiar with process piping and industrial facilities is a plus
- Construction/industrial experience preferred
- Must be able to multitask and manage multiple projects at any one time
- Willingness to learn and become familiar with our current design structure and standards
- Must have the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with others when needed Physical Demands & Additional Requirements
