Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Designer with expertise in industrial electromechanical systems, sheet metal fabrication, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), ASME Y14 standards, and automation integration to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing pneumatic tube systems, electromechanical assemblies, and sheet metal components for industrial applications while ensuring compliance with GD&T and
ASME Y14
standards. The role also involves close collaboration with electrical and manufacturing teams to integrate PCB-controlled automation devices, sensors, motors, and related electromechanical systems into robust and manufacturable product designs.
Responsibilities :
1. Design and develop pneumatic tube systems:
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Create detailed designs and specifications for pneumatic tube systems, considering factors such as system capacity, pressure requirements, safety measures, and integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to produce 2D and 3D models of pneumatic tube systems, including layouts, assemblies, and part drawings.
  • Apply design for manufacturing principles to optimize designs for efficient production, assembly, and maintenance.
  • Incorporate GD&T and adhere to
ASME Y14
standards for accurate and standardized documentation. 2.
Sheet metal design and fabrication:
  • Design sheet metal components and structures using SolidWorks, considering manufacturing constraints, assembly requirements, GD&T principles, and
ASME Y14
standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize designs for efficient fabrication, minimizing waste and reducing production costs.
  • Create detailed fabrication drawings, flat patterns, DXF files for CAM integration and fiber laser cutting operations, and bill of materials (BOM) for sheet metal components, providing clear instructions to production teams.
  • Support manufacturing integration activities by ensuring compatibility between CAD models, flat pattern development, and downstream CAM and CNC fabrication processes.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards and quality specifications throughout the sheet metal fabrication process, incorporating GD&T and
ASME Y14
standards. 3.
Automation & Electrical Integration:
  • Evaluate automation requirements and identify opportunities to integrate automation solutions into pneumatic tube systems, electromechanical assemblies, and sheet metal designs.
  • Collaborate closely with Electrical Designers, Electrical Engineers, and technicians to jointly define system architecture, electrical interfaces, automation requirements, and PCB-based control specifications.
  • Coordinate the mechanical integration of sensors, actuators, motors, switches, and PCB-controlled devices into the overall product design.
  • Support cross-functional development activities, including design reviews, interface definition, prototype validation, troubleshooting, and system-level verification.
  • Utilize automation technologies and integrated design practices to improve system performance, manufacturability, reliability, productivity, and operational safety.

Documentation and communication:
  • Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and test plans using SolidWorks and
ASME Y14
standards.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders to provide project updates, address queries, and incorporate feedback.
  • Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, offering technical expertise and innovative solutions.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to pneumatic tube systems, sheet metal design, SolidWorks, design for manufacturing, GD&T, ASME Y14, and automation.
Requirements :
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing industrial electromechanical systems, automation equipment, material handling systems, or similar engineered products.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks software for 2D and 3D modeling.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD software for 2D drawings creation / update.
  • Demonstrated expertise in sheet metal design and fabrication.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to pneumatic systems and sheet metal fabrication.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing principles and practices, optimizing designs for efficient production, assembly, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in GD&T principles and application, ensuring accurate and precise manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in applying
ASME Y14
standards for documentation and drawings.
  • Automation experience, including the integration of automation systems into mechanical designs.
  • Familiarity with automation technologies, electromechanical systems, embedded controls, PCB-controlled devices, sensors, actuators, and motor-driven assemblies
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex design challenges.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality designs within project timelines.
  • Prior experience working in an industrial or manufacturing setting is preferred.

- Experience working in industries such as healthcare, logistics, or manufacturing where pneumatic tube systems are commonly utilized. - Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
