Primarily onsite with periodic field visits and travel Position Summary Our client is seeking an experienced Industrial Construction Drafter to join a well-established organization supporting industrial construction and fabrication projects in the Itasca, Texas area on a direct hire basis. This is a hands-on drafting opportunity for someone who enjoys seeing a project move from field measurements and initial concepts through detailed drawings, fabrication, and installation. The Industrial Construction Drafter will create and revise technical drawings and 3D models while collaborating closely with project management, engineering, fabrication, and field teams. The ideal candidate brings experience in an industrial, mechanical, fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environment and is comfortable splitting time between office-based drafting responsibilities and occasional work at project sites. Industrial Construction Drafter Role As the Industrial Construction Drafter, you will be responsible for producing accurate drawings and models that support fabrication, construction, equipment installation, and field execution.Responsibilities will include:
Develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D models for industrial construction and fabrication projects. Utilize AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to create, modify, and maintain technical drawings and models. Produce fabrication and installation drawings using field measurements, existing models, sketches, and project specifications. Visit project locations to obtain field measurements and document existing conditions. Translate field measurements and project information into accurate drawings and 3D models. Prepare drawings related to structural steel, equipment supports, foundations, concrete, anchor bolts, embeds, and industrial equipment installations. Review drawings for dimensions, accuracy, completeness, and constructability before release. Revise drawings and models as project requirements or field conditions change. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, fabrication personnel, and field teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect project requirements. Prepare and maintain as-built drawings and other project documentation. Assist with preliminary drafting and design activities for industrial construction and fabrication projects. Maintain organized drawing files, models, revisions, and technical documentation. Participate in project site visits, field verification, and coordination activities as needed. Learn and utilize 3D scanning and reality-capture technology to assist with field verification, modeling, and project documentation. Industrial Construction Drafter Background Profile 2-3+ years of relevant drafting experience within industrial construction, mechanical design, fabrication, manufacturing, structural steel, or a similar environment. Proficiency with AutoCAD required. Autodesk Inventor experience strongly preferred. Experience developing and modifying both 2D drawings and 3D models. Ability to obtain accurate field measurements and translate field conditions into technical drawings. Experience developing fabrication or installation drawings from 3D models, sketches, and field information. Working knowledge of industrial construction components such as structural steel, concrete, foundations, equipment supports, anchor bolts, and embeds. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction documents, sketches, and specifications. Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on drawing accuracy. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable collaborating with office, fabrication, engineering, and field personnel. Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed. Travel may average approximately one week per month, depending on project activity. Degree or certificate in Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Construction, Architecture, or a related discipline preferred.
