This position works closely with engineers, equipment manufacturers, project managers, and field teams to support industrial construction, equipment installation, structural steel, concrete, and manufacturing facility projects. The role is primarily office-based but requires travel for site visits, field measurements, project coordination, and 3D laser scanning, typically about one week per month. The selected candidate will also assist with 3D scanning and processing scan data into point clouds, 2D drawings, 3D models, layouts, and customer deliverables. Previous 3D scanning experience is not required. Training will be provided, although prior experience is a plus. Responsibilities Prepare detailed fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, construction drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and installation details. Develop drawings for structural steel, equipment supports, platforms, foundations, concrete pads, pits, trenches, anchor bolts, embeds, and industrial equipment installations. Create fabrication drawings in Autodesk Inventor based on existing models or project requirements. Review and revise drawings to reflect engineering comments, field changes, customer requests, and project updates. Coordinate with engineers, OEMs, project managers, field supervisors, and customers to ensure drawing accuracy. Identify dimensional conflicts, missing information, equipment interferences, and potential installation issues. Travel to project sites to gather measurements, verify existing conditions, and assist with field coordination. Assist with onsite 3D laser scanning of equipment, structures, and facility conditions. Process scan data into point clouds, 2D drawings, 3D models, layouts, and as-built documentation. Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, models, scan files, and project documentation. Required Qualifications 2-3 years of experience in industrial, mechanical, fabrication, construction, or related drafting. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. Ability to create fabrication drawings from existing 3D models. Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, equipment layouts, structural drawings, and engineering specifications. Understanding of structural steel, concrete construction, equipment supports, foundations, anchor bolts, embeds, and general construction practices. Ability to take field measurements and convert them into accurate drawings and models. Ability to manage multiple projects and respond to time-sensitive field requests. Willingness to travel approximately one week per month or more when required. Preferred Qualifications Degree or certificate in drafting, engineering technology, mechanical design, construction, architecture, or a related field. Experience with industrial construction, manufacturing facilities, equipment installation, or metal fabrication. Experience creating fabrication, assembly, installation, and as-built drawings. Experience with 3D laser scanning, point-cloud processing, Autodesk ReCap, or similar software. Basic familiarity with Revit for reviewing or viewing project files. Experience with reverse engineering and creating drawings from existing equipment or field conditions. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position is primarily office-based but also includes work at industrial facilities and active construction sites.
