Job Description

Riggins Company is a custom heavy industrial design and manufacturing firm serving the U.S. Navy, commercial and naval shipyards, and petrochemical industries. We design and fabricate complex mission-critical structural and mechanical systems where precision and craftsmanship matter. We are seeking a motivated and talented Junior Lofter / Drafter who is eager to grow in a fast-paced industrial environment. Position Overview This role is ideal for someone early in their drafting career who wants hands-on experience in heavy industrial and shipyard-related design work. You will support senior designers and engineers in developing cut files, fabrication drawings, 3D models, and production-ready layouts. We are looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and who is eager to learn. Key Responsibilities Create 2D drawings and assist with 3D models using AutoCAD Support lofting and plate development efforts Assist in preparing CNC cutting files using AutoCAD 2D Revise drawings based on redlines and engineering feedback Maintain organized documentation and drawing revisions Learn fabrication methods and manufacturing best practices Collaborate with senior designers, engineers, and production teams Required Qualifications Strong work ethic with dependable attendance and punctuality 0-4 years of drafting/design experience (heavy industrial or shipyard preferred) Willingness and ability to learn and accept feedback Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D experience a plus) Basic understanding of fabrication drawings and blueprint reading Preferred Qualifications Associate's degree or certification in Drafting or Design Introductory knowledge of GD&T Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor Experience with heavy structural steel and welded designs Lofting experience Experience developing CNC cutting files Experience with CVN or submarine structural design and drafting Experience with ASME Code pressure vessel and heat exchanger design Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams) What We Offer Competitive compensation Opportunity for monthly bonuses based on company performance Structured learning and growth opportunities Hands-on industrial experience Industry-leading benefits package Long-term career path within a stable company Opportunities for growth and advancement in a rapidly growing company A culture built on family values, continuous improvement, and pride in craftsmanship How to Apply If you are ready to contribute your developing design expertise to a company that values precision, teamwork, and innovation, we encourage you to apply.
