Job Description:
Jefferson Community College seeks a full-time tenure-track Lecturer of Mechatronics t o join the STEM, Health Professions, and Business Division. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing a new academic program in Mechatronics. This position offers the opportunity for leadership within the department and requires a commitment to student success, academic excellence, and community engagement. Faculty are expected to contribute to the College's Strategic Plan and work collaboratively with colleagues and institutional leadership. The Lecturer of Mechatronics will teach a range of technical instructional courses requiring in-depth knowledge of two or more of the following topics: Electrical AC/DC, Multimeters, Precision Measuring Instruments, Mechanical Systems, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Programmable Logic Controllers, Sensors, and Robotics. Additionally, the position requires knowledge on the identification and use of industry related tools and equipment. This position will also assist in all other instructor-related duties to support the program. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and revising curricula and syllabi that align with current industry standards, while fostering a dynamic, learner centered classroom environment that promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The instructor will be actively involved in assessing student learning outcomes at both the course and program levels, using data to inform continuous improvement and ensure alignment with institutional goals and general education standards. The faculty role also involves advising students on academic and career pathways, cultivating internship and job placement opportunities through partnerships with industry, and maintaining strong relationships with the community and professional organizations. The lecturer will utilize instructional technologies such as D2L Brightspace and Amatrol LMS and will select appropriate software, equipment, and materials to enhance student learning and engagement.
Additional Responsibilities include:
Achieve SACA (Smart Automation Certification Alliance) Gold certification in areas related to instruction in order to certify students Teach 18 contact hours or 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 7 office hours each week to assist and mentor students Prepare and deliver dynamic instruction through various modalities in lecture and lab settings, primarily weekdays, but may include nights and weekends Utilize the Brightspace learning management system for course administration Assess student learning outcomes at course and program levels and use data to drive continuous improvement aligned with institutional goals and general education standards Guide students through academic planning, career readiness, and inclusive, student-centered learning experiences Participate in professional development Engage in community and college service to advance the mission and vision of the college
Requirements:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field, and two (2) years of industry or teaching experience. Must complete the applicable National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) training and credentials and/or Snap-on Tools certifications in the topics of expertise within 9 months of hire. Professional Development costs are covered. Applicants must interact and communicate effectively with diverse populations, foster inclusion, and promote equal access and treatment for groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
Preferred:
Master's degree in an engineering technology-related field. Experience in college teaching and/or training, and five (5) years of industry experience. Industry certifications as applicable. A successful candidate who possesses a Master's degree will be appointed at the rank of Instructor.

$50,000-$79,973/yr. for well-qualified individuals. Salary is determined based upon experience and education in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement as well as internal equity.
