Job Title:
Controls Systems Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Systems Engineer with expertise in control systems and theory, both classical and modern control strategies, and an understanding of linear and nonlinear system dynamics. The role involves designing, analyzing, and testing hydraulic and electromechanical control systems, as well as integrating sensors for simulation and real-world applications. You will work closely with software and mechanical engineers to develop innovative control solutions. Responsibilities Design and implement closed-loop control systems for agricultural, off-highway, or similar machinery. Conduct FMEA analysis and apply filtering techniques. Proficiently work with motors, valves, and perform time-series analysis. Integrate sensors for both simulation and practical applications. Write and test code using programming languages such as Python and C++. Utilize CAN and ISO bus control systems effectively. Apply MATLAB and Simulink in control system design. Contribute to autonomy-related projects, utilizing machine learning algorithms. Collaborate with software and mechanical engineers to develop control solutions for aftermarket displays, steering setups, and other combine solutions. Essential Skills Proficiency in Python, C++, MATLAB, and Simulink. Experience with machine learning and its practical applications. 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing control systems. Knowledge of agricultural machinery and practices. Experience with Agile development methods. Additional Skills & Qualifications MS or PhD in Controls, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Prior experience in autonomy-related projects. Work Environment This position is office-based, where you will be part of a dynamic team working to create innovative control solutions for advanced machinery. The role involves regular collaboration with software and mechanical engineers, offering opportunities to be involved in cutting-edge technologies and projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ames, IA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
