Job Description

Orbex Group has been a worldwide industry-leading electric motor and slip ring supplier based in Austin, Texas. We have international and domestic slip ring and motor manufacturing facilities to supply our global customers with the best products at the best prices. We are seeking a motivated and talented Multidisciplined Engineer to help Lead our engineering team. This position offers a unique opportunity to affect and create motion control systems in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a full time employee, you will work hands-on and closely with our engineering team on various projects, contributing to the development and testing of cutting-edge technologies.
Responsibilities:
Oversee mechanical integration of motors with gearboxes, actuators, and other components. Perform electrical and thermal analysis , motor sizing, and efficiency optimization. Lead the architecture, design, development, and testing of electronic and mechatronic systems. Support the creation of prototypes, test setups and conducting testing to gain valuable insights in the performance of the product. Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement improvements to existing systems. Conduct research and analysis to support product development efforts. Assist in the preparation of technical documentation and design specifications. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback. Organize and drive materials for prototype builds. Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations. Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics , Mechanical or related field. 5+ years of experience in electric motor design and system integration.
Strong knowledge of:
Motor control theory (FOC, PWM, sensorless control) Power electronics (inverters, converters) Embedded systems and firmware for motor control Familiarity with mechanical design principles and gearbox integration. Proficiency in tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, CAD software, and motor simulation platforms. Hands on experience with Prototype testing Excellent problem-solving and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with high-efficiency electric motor systems for industrial or aerospace applications. Experience with motor controls such as servo drives/amplifiers and feedback components Knowledge of thermal management and EMI/EMC compliance.
Pay:
$125,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
