Electrical Project Engineer Must-Have Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems, Controls, or related) PE (Professional Engineer) License 8-10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience Proven experience leading electrical engineering projects and teams Strong background in power distribution systems (12VDC to 13.8kVAC) Hands-on experience with NEC and/or IEC codes and standards Experience with ETAP or SKM for power system analysis (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, etc.) Ability to review and approve electrical and controls drawings and calculations Experience managing vendors and 3rd-party subcontractors Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead the design and execution of electrical and control systems for bulk material handling projects. This role involves managing a team of engineers and designers, interfacing directly with clients and vendors, and ensuring high-quality, compliant engineering deliverables from concept through commissioning. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers and designers Oversee electrical and controls design for complex industrial projects Review and approve engineering deliverables, including: Power distribution systems and one-line diagrams Cable sizing, routing, and schedules Grounding, lighting, and lightning protection systems Control schematics, PLC/DCS/HMI architectures Ensure compliance with engineering standards, project specifications, and client requirements Coordinate across disciplines and with external vendors for design consistency Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and staffing requirements Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and clients Prepare technical specifications, material requisitions, and bid evaluations Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and QA/QC processes Participate in site commissioning and startup activities as needed Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (a plus) Experience in mining or bulk material handling industries Bilingual (Spanish or French is a plus) Experience with AutoCAD (2D) and electrical design tools such as SmartPlant or E-Plan Familiarity with PLC/HMI programming environments Experience conducting FAT on medium-voltage switchgear and control systems Why Join Lead impactful, large-scale industrial projects Work with a collaborative and technically strong engineering team High visibility role with direct client interaction Opportunity to mentor junior engineers and influence project success If you're a seasoned Electrical Engineer with leadership experience and strong technical depth in power and controls, this is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of complex engineering projects and drive results.
