Rocky Hill, Connecticut Job Description We are seeking an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing geotechnical engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to gain hands-on experience in both field and office environments while supporting a variety of geotechnical and construction projects. The successful candidate will work alongside experienced engineers and project managers to assist with site investigations, engineering analyses, construction observation, and materials testing services. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a strong foundation in geotechnical engineering while developing technical, project management, and client-facing skills. The position offers exposure to a wide range of projects across the commercial, industrial, transportation, and municipal sectors. Responsibilities:
Assist with geotechnical investigations, including soil and rock explorations, field sampling, and data collection Support the preparation of geotechnical reports, engineering analyses, and design recommendations Perform construction observation and inspection services on active project sites Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate Monitor construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications and engineering requirements Prepare daily field reports, testing documentation, and project records Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and clients to support successful project delivery Assist with evaluating subsurface conditions and interpreting geotechnical data Follow established safety procedures while working in both field and office environments Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline 0-3 years of relevant engineering, construction inspection, materials testing, or geotechnical experience Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, or willingness to obtain certification Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Willingness to perform field work in varying weather and site conditions Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Familiarity with geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and construction practices is preferred Experience with construction materials testing or inspection is a plus Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to project sites Pay Range:
