401(k) Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Training & development Vision insurance Job Summary Midland Standard Engineering & Testing, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to lead and support geotechnical investigations and deliver practical, constructible recommendations. This role includes evaluating soil, rock, and groundwater conditions; performing analyses; and preparing clear reports that support safe, efficient, and cost-effective design and construction. You will collaborate with clients, designers, and field/lab teams from initial investigation through construction. Key Responsibilities Prepare geotechnical reports and technical memoranda, including conclusions and recommendations. Plan and oversee subsurface investigations (drilling, sampling, and field testing) and coordinate laboratory testing. Analyze subsurface data to support design decisions (e.g., bearing capacity, settlement, lateral earth pressures, slope stability, and deep foundations). Coordinate with clients, project managers, design engineers, and field/lab staff to support scope, schedule, and deliverables. Conduct site visits and provide construction-phase support, including response to field conditions and RFIs, as needed. Communicate geotechnical considerations during design and construction, translating technical concepts into clear guidance for project teams.
Develop recommendations for:
Residential, commercial, and industrial developments Retaining walls, slopes, and earth retention systems Infrastructure (roads, bridges, and utilities) Energy and critical facilities (solar, wind, substations, and treatment plants) Stormwater management and pavement/roadway projects Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited). Licensed Professional Engineer (PE). 5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation and standard office software (MS Office). Ability to perform site visits and occasional field work as needed.
