Tetra Tech invites you to consider a rewarding opportunity within our geotechnical engineering operations as a Senior to Principal-Level Geotechnical Engineer. This position is available in multiple locations including our Missoula (preferred), Billings, Helena, MT offices, Phoenix, AZ, or Salt Lake City, UT office. Qualified candidates located within the western region may also be considered. Our Montana Geotechnical Group has strong longstanding working relationships with numerous government agencies, consulting engineering firms, and architects throughout the western region. Our project assignments allow engineers to work and travel within the spectacular western region and across the United States on diverse client projects and various industries, including infrastructure, environmental hazard sites, mining, and oil and gas. Typical geotechnical projects touch the entire spectrum of geotechnical engineering, including; geologic hazard studies and mitigation, soil and rock slope stability analyses, waste containment design, horizontal directional drill (HDD) design, shallow and deep foundation design, bridge and highway corridor design, pavement section design, field instrumentation and monitoring, deep foundation load testing, and construction oversight and materials inspection. We're seeking a strong technical professional who is excited to help grow our business and client relationships across regional and national markets. Experience developing and implementing capture plans for targeted clients or market segments is highly valued, along with a proven track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction. In this role you'll collaborate with other senior leaders on key business priorities, helping foster a team-oriented culture and high standards for both technical excellence and business performance.

Essential Job Functions:

Provide leadership to sustain and facilitate growth of our geotechnical engineering practice and client accounts in Montana across the western United States. Manage projects and staff through all states of the project life cycle in the delivery of geotechnical field investigation and design services. Direct assistance in growth of the geotechnical group regionally and business development of key client accounts. Perform geotechnical analysis and prepare final engineering reports. Perform geotechnical quality control inspection and documentation on construction projects. Professionally interact with clients. Strictly adhere to and promote company health and safety standards and expectations. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

BS in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical/Materials emphasis, or related Geological Engineering degree required. 12 - 25+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering. 10 years as a P.E. PE license in MT or multiple states (AZ, UT, etc.) ability to obtain through reciprocity Proficient in MS Word, Excel and other Microsoft software. Experienced in preparation of engineering plans and specifications packages for public and private projects. Able to perform geotechnical design analysis, calculations, and proficient with current geotechnical design software. Familiarity with geotechnical lab testing and construction materials testing expected. Excellent writing and speaking skills, comfortable with client communications. Strong business development track record. A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required. Preferred Qualifications:

Master of Science or PhD in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical/Materials emphasis, or related Geological Engineering degree preferred. Experience with projects in the civil, environmental, hydrology or hydraulics fields, mining and mine reclamation, geohazards, dams and levees, and general construction is a plus. Experience with energy sector and other commercial applications for geotechnical engineering preferred. HAZWOPER and MSHA certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 50lbs in variable weather and terrain. Ability to travel and perform field oversight (
