Job Description

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Geotechnical Engineer to support our Charlotte, NC location. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. Your Impact Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and laboratory testing Plan, conduct, and implement geotechnical field investigations, including directing drilling and excavation contractors. Monitor and oversee drilling and earthwork construction activities. Prepare geotechnical data reports and construction field reports Prepare geotechnical calculations and conduct modeling, including slope stability, seepage and consolidation analyses Travel to monitor drilling or construction, meet clients, and/or visit sites in support of design and construction for both short-term and long-term field assignments. Serve as a field engineer / site lead for construction quality assurance or Special Inspections projects Ability to work with a team or with minimal supervision, and with contractors and cross-discipline in-house designers Be willing and able to work on projects involving dams and other retaining structures, landfills and lined structures, rock and soil mechanics, and other geotechnical applications Assist with writing reports, cost estimating and permit documents Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates Who You Are Required Qualifications Qualified candidates will possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering 0-1 years of relevant work experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, and a positive attitude Ability to work both independently and within groups Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary Familiarity with discipline-specific design software FE/EIT (or ability to obtain EIT within 1 year) required Ability to lift up to 40 pounds Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:
Engineer in Training Certification Some prior experience in the civil, geotechnical, or mining engineering fields are a plus Internship or co-operative experience in geotechnical, construction materials testing, or laboratory testing.
