Penn E&R is seeking a full-time Geotechnical Staff Engineer . While you will be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA or Doylestown, PA office, we offer hybrid flexibility. You will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of tasks across all of Penn E&R's market sectors and be expected to perform both office-based and field-based assignments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Support geotechnical investigation programs including planning, permitting, subcontractor coordination, implementation, field data collection, and oversight, data reporting. Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and design calculations for foundations, soil/rock slope stability, settlements, temporary excavation support systems, retaining walls etc. Perform geologic and seismic hazard evaluations. Write technical reports and other documents explaining the rationale for pertinent analyses, designs, and recommendations. Assist with the preparation of construction drawings, and specifications for geotechnical infrastructure. Work as integral member of the engineering team on complex, multi-discipline projects.
Qualifications include:
BS in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering. MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred. Completion of relevant coursework in geotechnical engineering, soil and rock mechanics, subsurface investigation methods. 2-3 years of relevant industry experience. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification Competence in geotechnical analysis software such as SLIDE, SETTLE3, RSPIile, LPILE, SEEP/W etc. Ability to move up to 60 pounds. A valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record. Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities. Strong analytical and technical communication skills. Willingness to work in the field and travel for short-term/long-term assignments. We know that great work happens when people feel supported both on and off the job.
