We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Civil/Mining Engineer to support mining and land development projects through engineering design, site investigation, regulatory compliance, and reclamation planning. This position works closely with geologists, environmental scientists, civil designers, and project managers to develop safe, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible solutions for mining clients. Penn E&R serves mining and energy-sector clients and emphasizes technical excellence, project management, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop surface activity site design plans with appropriate surface water management practices. Conduct field investigations and evaluate geological, geotechnical, and hydrogeological conditions. Prepare engineering reports, permit applications, technical specifications, and regulatory submissions. Support environmental assessments, remediation projects, and mine reclamation activities. Analyze site data and provide recommendations regarding mine operations, slope stability, drainage, and earthwork design. Coordinate with environmental scientists, geologists, surveyors, and civil designers. Manage project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client communications. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mining and environmental regulations. Support health and safety initiatives during field and construction activities. Assist with proposal preparation and business development
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred. Experience in mining operations, mine site design, mine permitting, environmental consulting, or geotechnical engineering. Strong technical writing and analytical skills. Experience with project management and coordination of field activities. Knowledge of mining regulations, permitting processes, and reclamation requirements. Familiarity with water resources, stormwater management, and site development projects Excellent communication and organizational skills.
