Pay:
Competitive hourly rate, based on experience MPERA is seeking a reliable and motivated Geotechnical Engineer (or Geologist) to support our growing portfolio of infrastructure and development projects across the Puget Sound region. This position involves supporting geotechnical engineering data collection, design, documentation, and overseeing geotechnical and environmental drilling , sampling , and construction inspection activities. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys fieldwork, works well independently, and values flexibility. There is potential for this position to evolve into a full-time role for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
Develop geotechnical engineering exploration plans Plan and coordinate geotechnical explorations Oversee drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing operations. Perform geotechnical explorations Perform geotechnical construction observation and inspection (e.g., subgrade preparation, foundations, earthwork, retaining structures). Log subsurface conditions and prepare clear, accurate field reports. Coordinate sample handling and lab testing. Communicate findings and daily progress with project engineers. Perform geotechnical engineering design calculations such as foundation design, slope stability assessments, retaining wall design, seismic hazard assessments
Qualifications:
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology , or related field. (Curret students are encouraged to apply as interns) Experience with field observation, inspection, or geotechnical testing preferred. Must have a valid driver's license and personal vehicle for site travel. Based in the Puget Sound area for reasonable site access. Strong communication and attention to detail.
