A Non-Destructive Testing Specialist uses ultrasonic, electromagnetic, thermal or liquid penetration tests to check structures or materials for cracks, defects or signs of corrosion. - Performs white light inspection for cleanliness prior to performing MPI; loads parts and prepares equipment; operates equipment to perform magnetization; uses black light to inspect for indications; demagnetizes and washes parts when inspection is complete; ensures specifications and acceptance criteria are met. Work Requirements
- Reviews traveler for work instructions; pulls up job specific information in PDM system; reads and works to blueprints, technique sheets, specifications, and other documentation to determine MPI and other operating requirements. Non-Conformance
- Double-checks inspection of product to confirm non-conformance exists; completes Non-Conformance form; identifies all non-conforming parts and separates parts on PRB cart; reports quality and other issues to Line Lead. Documentation
- Completes traveler paperwork and double-checks for accuracy; logs in/out of system and accurately applies time to job numbers/operations; verifies part counts; creates a Certificate of Conformance to certify completion of the MPI process according to specifications for specific parts. Daily Upkeep/Maintenance
- Wipes machine down after each job and cleans work area regularly; performs various process control checks daily and maintains documented logs; performs periodic inventory of MPI supplies; ensures product is not expired. Stress Relieve
- Performs stress relieve for parts according to production priorities and traveler job requirements; determines oven for process, loads and monitors parts, and allows parts to cool until meeting specific temperature; completes traveler and creates a Certificate of Conformance to certify completion of the stress relieve process according to specifications. Communication
- Communicates with manager to discuss job priorities, provide status updates, and raise concerns, questions, resource needs, etc.; participates in daily stand-up by raising concerns or turnbacks and sharing continuous improvement ideas; shares pertinent information with other team members and departments, as needed. Additional MPI Support
- Creates MPI technique sheets for new parts, changes to parts, or if tech sheets are not available; participates in NADCAP and customer audits; works with engineering when process changes occur.
