NDE Technician Direct Hire | Marshalltown, Iowa | Relocation Assistance Available Join a leading manufacturer in a highly advanced production environment where your expertise in Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity and performance of large, custom-engineered control valves used in demanding industrial applications. Position Overview As an NDE Technician, you will perform and support a wide range of non-destructive testing activities on in-process materials and components to verify compliance with strict quality standards and industry codes. You will serve as a technical resource across operations, suppliers, and customers while helping maintain a safe, efficient, and compliant NDE program. Key Responsibilities Conduct ultrasonic (UT), radiographic (RT), magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and visual (VT) inspections on materials and components throughout production. Verify product conformance to engineering specifications, quality requirements, and applicable industry codes. Support manufacturing, supplier, and customer teams in resolving nonconformances and quality-related concerns. Provide technical expertise in the application and interpretation of NDE methods, procedures, and standards. Maintain accurate training, certification, inspection, and compliance documentation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. Ensure NDE processes remain compliant with applicable codes, standards, and audit expectations. Maintain inspection equipment readiness, including coordination of calibration, organization, and upkeep of the NDE facility. Participate in internal quality audits and support supplier audits related to NDE activities and compliance. Required Qualifications Hands-on experience performing one or more of the following inspection methods in an industrial or manufacturing environment: Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT) Ultrasonic Testing (UT) Radiographic Testing (RT) Visual Testing (VT) Experience with NDE equipment setup, calibration verification, and inspection technique application. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document inspection results clearly and effectively. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, procedures, specifications, and work instructions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate data and support quality decisions. Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications ASNT and/or AWS certifications related to NDE or welding inspection. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, quality, or inspection-focused environment. Familiarity with industry standards and codes including ASME, ANSI, and
ISO 9000.
Strong organizational and decision-making skills in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Ability to quickly learn new processes and adapt to evolving production requirements. Self-motivated team player with exceptional attention to detail and accountability. Education & Certifications Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Non-Destructive Testing, NDT Technology, or a related technical discipline preferred; equivalent experience and training will also be considered. Formal NDE training in methods such as MT, PT, UT, RT, and
VT. ASNT
Level II certifications (or equivalent) in one or more NDE methods preferred. AWS certifications or welding inspection coursework are considered a plus.
