About Us Janesville Lumber is a locally trusted hardware store and lumberyard serving contractors, homeowners, farmers, and the surrounding community. We take pride in providing quality materials, dependable service, and knowledgeable support. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on General Manager to lead daily operations, grow sales, and continue building strong customer relationships. Position Summary The General Manager will oversee all aspects of store and lumberyard operations including sales, inventory, staffing, customer service, purchasing, and overall profitability. This role requires a strong leader who can manage people, stay organized, and help drive business growth while maintaining the small-town customer-focused atmosphere our customers appreciate. Responsibilities Manage daily operations of the hardware store and lumberyard Lead, train, and motivate employees Oversee inventory, purchasing, receiving, and vendor relationships Maintain strong customer service standards and contractor relationships Monitor sales, margins, and profitability Coordinate deliveries, yard organization, and operational efficiency Assist customers and staff with product knowledge and solutions Develop strategies to increase sales and customer retention Maintain a clean, safe, and organized facility Work closely with ownership on business planning and growth opportunities Qualifications Previous management experience in hardware, lumber, building materials, retail, construction supply, or related industries preferred Strong leadership and communication skills Knowledge of building materials, tools, and contractor sales is a plus Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Experience with inventory systems and purchasing preferred Self-motivated with a positive attitude and strong work ethic What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Performance incentives/bonus opportunities Paid time off Retirement opportunities Long-term career growth potential Family-oriented and team-focused work environment Why Join Us?
