Machine Technician Job Description This role operates thermal spray equipment to apply high-quality coatings in accordance with detailed job specifications and customer requirements. The Spray Technician reviews job documentation, prepares parts through masking, cleaning, and blasting, and performs HVOF, plasma, and other thermal spray coating operations. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, careful attention to detail, and consistent adherence to inspection and documentation procedures in a fast-paced aerospace production environment. Responsibilities Perform HVOF, plasma, and other thermal spray coating operations in strict accordance with customer requirements and job folder specifications. Review the job folder thoroughly to verify the exact areas of each part that require masking, cleaning, blasting, and coating. Confirm that all pre-coating requirements, including masking, cleaning, and blasting, are completed according to the job folder before beginning coating operations. Follow in-process inspection procedures to verify that each operation meets customer specifications and technical plan requirements. Record all required process data accurately and completely, and sign off on all applicable documentation defined in the job folder. Set up and change over machines for new products, ensuring all parameters and programs meet specified requirements. Program machines to the required specifications for each job to achieve consistent and repeatable coating quality. Operate coating, welding, robotic welding, or CNC equipment safely and efficiently as part of the production process. Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, as needed, to understand part requirements and coating areas. Work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail. Collaborate with team members and follow established procedures to support continuous improvement in thermal spray processes. Essential Skills Hands-on machine operation experience in coating, welding, robotic welding, or CNC (must have). Proven ability to perform setups and changeovers for new products (must have). Ability to program machines to required specifications (must have). Mechanical aptitude with the capability to learn and apply thermal spray processes. Experience working in a production environment, demonstrating the ability to follow procedures and meet production goals. Capability to follow in-process inspection procedures and document results accurately. Attention to detail when reviewing job folders, confirming pre-coating requirements, and recording process data. Comfort operating in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards. Basic understanding of CNC or automated equipment operation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings (plus). Previous experience as a Spray Technician or in thermal spray coating operations (plus). Experience working in the aerospace industry or with aerospace components (plus). Familiarity with HVOF, plasma, or other thermal spray technologies. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust machine parameters to achieve desired results. Commitment to safety and adherence to established production and inspection procedures. The pace of work is steady and demanding, requiring focus, awareness of surroundings, and adherence to safety practices in an active production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hebron, KY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $26.00/hr.
