Job Description

Description Helfrich Brothers Boiler Works Inc. (HBBW) has been a family-owned business since the 40's. We bring together decades of experience, from the commercial boiler industry, to meet all the fabrication and field service needs of our customers. Inside our 100,000+ square foot facility in Lawrence Massachusetts, we provide construction services, ASME pressure vessel and code tank fabrication, machining, and boiler parts of all types. Our full-time staff of engineers, welders, machinists, and millwrights offer turn-key service, from project conception, through the start-up phase of the project, providing a complete product that saves our clients time and money. Duties and Responsibilities Must have the ability to oversee project quality to ensure compliance with codes related to NBIC part 3 Repairs and Alterations / ASME Sec I Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code / ASME Sec IX Welding / ASME B31.1 Power Piping / AWS D1.1. Structural Welding Code. Implementation of the Owners Quality Control Manual for fabrication, inspection, documentation, and operations activities including: Approving incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Approving in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor. Approving finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work. Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures that comply with code requirements. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Inspection:
Conduct thorough inspections of welded components to ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications.
Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings and maintain accurate records.
Compliance:
Ensure all welding work adheres to safety standards and regulatory codes.
Collaboration:
Work closely with engineers and project managers to address any discrepancies and improve welding procedures.
Training:
Provide guidance and training to junior inspectors and welding personnel on best practices and quality control. Certification, Knowledge, and Experience Requirements Must hold a valid CWI certification from a recognized organization, Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, suppliers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities, Knowledge of reading blueprints, Strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail, 5+ years working experience in ASME Code Fabrication / Welding, Strong knowledge of qualifying ASME WPS and welder/welding operator qualifications, including local regulation requirements, Knowledge of project specific documentation related to new equipment turnover for installation, inspection, testing, repairs, and alterations, Ability to detect non-conformance deficiencies and provide root cause analysis.
