A Non-Destructive Testing Specialist uses ultrasonic, electromagnetic, thermal or liquid penetration tests to check structures or materials for cracks, defects or signs of corrosion. May work on large structures such as bridges, dams or pipelines, or check vehicles such as aircraft. Interprets and reports on test results that include images and measurements; maintains and calibrates equipment.

Typical Trade Tasks The Receipt Inspectors shall demonstrate at least 3 years' experience of performing: a. Visual, dimensional, and generic material identification inspections b. Setup and inspections on precision surface plates c. Setup and inspections on precision surface plates d. Functional checks (flexure or spring rate tests) e. Generic material verification using acid spot, magnet, or XRF testing f. Operation of hardness testers, electronic plating thickness gauges, surface finish analyzers g. Data entry into computer programs, such as Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program (PDREP) Qualifications The Receipt Inspectors shall demonstrate at least 5 years of experience in: a. Precision measuring a. Precision measurement and inspection techniques utilizing precision measurement instruments such as (e.g. profilometers, digital height gages, calipers, screw pitch gages, variable thread pitch gages, optical comparator, hardness tester, precision gage blocks, plug gages, and dial indicators). b. Machined parts inspection c. Precision testing d. Documenting results from inspections and precision testing. e. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. a.
