JOB SUMMARY BBSI
is currently accepting applications for a Rework Grinder for our manufacturing client in SE Portlandto remove defects from metal castings and prepare parts to meet customer quality standards. This role involves grinding, blending, inspecting, and finishing castings using a variety of hand tools and measuring equipment. What You'll Do Grinding & Finishing Review inspection reports, blueprints, and work instructions. Remove surface and internal defects from castings using grinders, rotary files, burrs, belts, and abrasive tools. Prepare castings for welding repairs. Blend and smooth repaired areas to required specifications. Use hand-held sandblasting equipment when needed. Inspection & Quality Control Inspect parts to ensure they meet customer requirements. Use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and ultrasonic testing equipment. Perform fluorescent penetrant inspections to verify defects have been removed. Complete production and inspection records accurately. Assist with training and mentoring less experienced team members as needed. Safety Follow all company and department safety procedures. Safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery. Report safety concerns and hazards. Handle hazardous materials and waste according to company procedures when required. Additional Duties Perform other job-related tasks as assigned. Training On-the-job training provided. Previous training in Rework Analysis, Visual Dimensional Inspection, or Penetrant Inspection is a plus. Hazardous waste management training may be required. Qualifications Required Experience using grinding tools and equipment. Ability to read and follow written instructions, work orders, and specifications. Basic math and communication skills. Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Ability to read blueprints, Tech Cards, and Process Control Procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 30-50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work in physically demanding positions throughout the shift. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and varying temperatures. Key Requirements Grinding experience Blueprint reading skills Experience using calipers and micrometers, performing dimensional inspections Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly (80 lbs occasionally) Strong attention to detail and quality standards Must have high school diploma, must be available on all shifts. #
